Philly Gives Earns Global Recognition for Community Impact

Philly Gives is bringing home the gold.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has been awarded gold at the 2026 INMA Global Media Awards in the category of Best Public Relations or Community Service Campaign for its Philly Gives coverage, recognition that speaks to the strength of the initiative’s media partnership model and its growing impact across the region.

INMA is the global association for news media, and its annual awards recognize excellence in journalism and media strategy worldwide. The gold distinction places Philly Gives’ work among the best public service campaigns in news media internationally.

Launched by Philadelphia Foundation and supported by a grant from the William Penn Foundation, Philly Gives pairs community philanthropy with sustained local storytelling. A coalition of Philadelphia media partners, including 6abc, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Philadelphia Tribune, Impacto, New Mainstream Press, Philadelphia Gay News, and WURD Radio, tell the stories of participating nonprofits through multilingual, multiplatform coverage that aims to reach audiences across the region. It is that collective commitment to storytelling as a civic act that this award reflects.

In its 2025 campaign, the initiative generated millions of multiplatform impressions and raised more than $1.05 million for ten local nonprofits, nearly double the amount raised in its inaugural year. Funds were distributed equally among partners serving LGBTQ+ youth, immigrant and refugee communities, families facing food insecurity, children in crisis, individuals experiencing homelessness, and many others across Greater Philadelphia.

“This recognition is a reflection of the heart behind Philly Gives. It is a demonstration that when media, philanthropy, and community work together, the impact is greater than any one of us could achieve alone,” said Pedro A. Ramos, President and CEO of Philadelphia Foundation. “Congratulations to The Philadelphia Inquirer and to every partner who has helped make Philly Gives a model for what collective generosity can look like.”
